KOREAN PHONE MAKER LG has set the date for the launch of its not so secret Optimus G2 smartphone.
LG, which confirmed the existence and name of its upcoming flagship smartphone last week, has launched a teaser website for the Optimus G2. On the website there's a countdown to the firm's 7 August launch event in new York, where the smartphone will no doubt make its debut.
As well as telling us when we'll catch our first proper glimpse at the LG Optimus G2, the website throws out some clues as to what we can expect from the handset. Words such as "battery", "privacy," and "IPS" take the shape of a person on the website, no doubt hinting at some of the features we can expect to see on the G2 smartphone.
Thanks to online leaks and rumours, however, we already know quite a lot about the LG Optimus G2 smartphone. If that information is correct, LG's upcoming flagship handset will feature a 5.2in HD 1080p IPS display, a quad-core 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and Google's Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean mobile operating system.
There's also talk that the smartphone will feature fingerprint scanning technology, a 13MP rear-facing camera, 2GB of RAM and support for 4G LTE connectivity.
LG didn't offer any more information about what we can expect from its 7 August event in New York. However speaking last week LG CEO and president Dr Jong-seok Park said, "Our vision is to make LG's newest G devices synonymous with excellence, raising the bar even further for the ultimate in user experience.
"The new G2 will build upon the excellent reputation established by previous G Series products."
We'll be covering the LG event on 7 August, so check back then for all the latest.
